Another Fundraising Opportunity

It is crushing that major pro-life groups are using bad legislation to fundraise, not on the premise that these are bad pieces of legislation, but calling for them to be passed.

Our nation has been killing children in the womb with the full cooperation of the government and the church for over 4o years nationwide and even longer in some states. Each and every one of those children and their moms and the families matter. Scripture says that innocent blood cries out from the ground and God hears.

I’d written on the Hyde amendment last year. It basically says that federal fund cannot be used for abortion. But Fungibility! Hello, I used a lemon-aid stand analogy with my kids.

If I give you money for a lemon-aid stand and tell you that no part of the money may be used to buy drugs, but you use the direct profit from selling lemon-aid to buy them, you have violated the intention of our agreement. The intention was to direct your energy and focus your talents to productive action. When you squander that offer, you limit further options.

Planned Parenthood employs fungibility every fiscal year. “No money for abortions, except for rape, incest, and harm to the mother” Ah, not only can they take the money they budgeted for propaganda from their general fund and direct that to committing abortion, but they can also use some of the money directly, it just has to be qualified.

Walah! Loads, $500mm or so to fund abortion in the US alone. This is your money. This is my money. This is your grandmother’s money and your children’s money going the kill more than a million children each year.

So, where are the national pro-life organizations? Why haven’t they been able to stop this madness? Why do I say some are complicit? They are fundraising.

What? Oh, they put out some good stuff. Some do fantastic education. Many are on the front lines rescuing those drawn to the death. My assertion remains they are not effective at turning the legal killing of babies tide, because of exceptions.

It is elitist to decide that some lives are worth protecting and some are not. It smacks of hypocrisy to say that you are pro-life…except… But even though the defunding Planned Parenthood bill has exceptions, namely rape, incest and harm to the mother exceptions, major pro-life organizations are supporting it publicly, calling their members to send in the money to get it passed.

So, wait, what’s the money for? Will this latest bill that passed the House actually save any babies? Will it really defund Planned Parenthood? Some pro-lifers say yes. But how’s that working for us now? We already have that in the Hyde Amendment. Is it saving babies and the wounded women and damaged families from abortion?

“Planned Parenthood wouldn’t work against it if it didn’t work”, I was told yesterday. Ummm, really!? Planned Parenthood wants unfettered access to money? Ya. They will fight anything that disrupts their ease of getting funds or disrupts the perception that they create with their propaganda.

They have actually got people believing that killing children in the womb is ok, that selling their body part is beneficial, that it is healthcare to cut children apart, to crush their chest and pull off their limbs. This is so repulsive. I shake my head and physically recoil at the writing of some of the main stream media reports that call abortion opponents villains and praise the abortion industry.

We have evidences from years and years, from former abortion workers, from documents, from empirical evidence, from embryologists and anatomy lessons, abortion kills children, wounds women and damages families. How on earth have they been able to convince anyone that this is to be lauded?

Ignorance. Ignorance drives the bus. But major pro-life organizations have the capacity to educate their base, at least, right? Yup! They could, but instead of letting them know that this bill won’t pass, that it isn’t viable, that the President would veto, that it has elitist exceptions, they ask for money.

“It sends a message” I was told. Yes it does. It sends a message that elitists love abortion. It sends a message that even pro-life elitists decide which children should be killed. It sends a message that abortion will keep on rolling.

I’m calling on pro-life organizations to use this as a method of fundraising, but do it ethically! Either let your base know that you want to keep abortion for some classes of people or tell them that this bill is elitist and repugnant.

Of course, I would rather the latter. It would be consistent and logical. It would also make a difference. It would divide actual pro-lifers from those who use the pro-life community.

How do you feel about honesty and the whole story from the people you donate to?
