No, Governor Christie

The rights of a woman and her preborn child are not at odds. How cruel are you? You influence people all across the country and around the world and you have that to say? Governor Christie is a type for politicians that say they’re pro-life, but have elitist exceptions for abortion. Dehumanizing a category of human beings is the first step to controlling life or death for all human beings. Who will be next on the list of expendables?

The rights of a woman and her preborn child are not at odds. They are not competing rights.

Our Founding Fathers stated it well when they penned the words, “All men are created equal, endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

These rights are in consecutive order. There is no right to liberty without the right to life and there is no pursuit of happiness without liberty. In no other circumstance do we permit anyone to take the right to life away from another innocent human being, because they impact their right to liberty or the pursuit of happiness.

Even in the rare case when the lives of the two, mother and child, are mutually endangered, their rights are not competing, they are concurrent. They both have the right to life. However, a doctor may decide to induce early labor, in order to save the mother, because, of his two patients, it is the baby who’s life that depends on the mother’s.

When a woman is pregnant the two lives are mutually entangled, dependent on each other. Pregnancy changes the mother, even if it is only for a few weeks. Artificially interrupting that change is dangerous to the mother. Biochemically, emotionally, mentally, and physiologically, she is forever changed.

No, Governor Christie, you are wrong about mothers from rape as well. The innocent child is her child. The rape was horrible and will have lasting consequences. She needs care, to be sure. She may need medication as a bridge. She needs counseling and maybe other forms of trauma approach therapy, but she doesn’t need to kill her baby.

You could be advocating for more services and victim relief for her, but you choose to tell her and the rest of society that she should want to kill her baby? What is wrong with you? How can you be so cruel?

The child is not the adversary. The baby did not commit the crime. He or she is merely a second victim of the rape. Incest is rape by a family member. Again, the child is a second victim here. In no other circumstance does the United States of America condone killing an innocent victim, because their father committed a violent crime. This is absurd and should be stopped.

I have been advocating for an end to legally imposed death for more than 20 years. I have met many women who have suffered greatly at the hands of the abortion vendors. Rape victims too, have succumbed to the societal pressure to abort. Those I know were horrified to hear you. They know the suffering that their abortion caused and wish that kind of pain on no one.

I was conceived during a violent rape. Thankfully, my 15 year-old mom decided that we were in it together. I am now a part of a group called Savethe1. It is founded on the principle that, if you save the one most marginalized, you will reach those less marginalized. Matthew 18:10-13.

Savethe1 has hundreds of people who were conceived from rape/incest, mothers from rape/incest, post abortive from rape/incest or those parents of children with fetal anomalies, all the most marginalized of US society. If you want to speak on the subject, you should be asking those with experience.

When you advocate killing the smallest most vulnerable human beings, you’re parroting the dogma of the abortion vendors. Remember well, they make their money by shedding innocent blood.

Any questions?

  • Great response and article for the Governor from New Jersey! It would be nce if he would read it and nicest if he would heed. I can’t understand how the right of mom and her baby ever become seen as pitted against each other in any case. I hear it at home: “If my granddaughter became pregnant from rape she would get an abortion!” We need to let Congress know how we feel and to make ALL abortion illegal. THere is a new 100% prolife petition for that with this sortlink, on Care2: http://Y0JFK

God Bless You Ladies – Well Said and Thank You for standing up for these innocent lives. Rape and Incest are tragic acts but the woman and child are victims that need support from family, friends and community. Let’s all pray and support these victims and reach out to help them get thru these horrible times in their lives. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on Super Bowl tickets, how about give that money to community shelters and churches that help these poor woman. What I really want is the whereabouts of these cowards that rape and abuse their wives and girlfriends. I ‘m sure I could rally the troops to go thank them for their cowardess acts.
