Every Little Thing You Do
Most of us in the US are bombarded by choices every day.
In a culture losing the ability to discern right from wrong, too many people are choosing to create their own reality, rather than recognize the hard truths around them. We have lost our way as a nation and as a people, we are devoid of moral fortitude. Most certainly, I am lumping everyone together, that is the only way to discuss a nation or society. There are outliers. There are people who honor justice, truth and who truly value other people.
“It’s complicated.”, people say. Is it really though or it the situation not meeting your expectations and you’d like to find a way to better serve yourself. Usually, when I hear that a situation is complicated, there are some red flags waving that will lead me to read between the lines.
Life is really complicated.
Navigating it is actually very difficult.
There are ridiculously simple ways to live here on earth though. Simply adhering to a few principles will make your life better and more peaceful.
People are more important than things. Seems pretty simple, but how often have we heard stories of people killing other people for their stuff. Stealing, cheating and lying would be practically nonexistent, if we held people as the priority, as the most treasured and most important of all creation. This principle has the potential to eliminate so many problems. In an office or other workplace, strife would cease. In families, security and confidence would prevail. In communities, poverty would get wiped out because the value of people increases exponentially. Ingenuity and creativity would be able to thrive.
Everybody dies, but we don’t kill them. Simple, right? This is one of the principles invalidated in our culture. Our entertainment is constantly emulating killing, murder of all kinds and for loads of reasons. The inestimable value of human beings has been decimated. Murder has been made light of in thousands of comedy routines and movies, songs and print. Recently, even the killing of the most innocent and most vulnerable of our society has been made sport of in a movie about abortion. New protocols for the health care community make it very clear that it is acceptable to, not only deny care, but assist in the killing of people.
People are treasured by the Creator. People are God’s crescendo, the highest and most important of creation. He made us differently than the rest of creation. He made us, specifically to love. He wants to love us, but He also wants us to love Him. He made each and every one of us to be able to love us. There is no distinction to be made according to our conception; whether conceived with wine and roses or of a violent act or even by a lab tech. Each and every person is designed for love. We have free will. So we choose every little thing we do.
Duty and responsibility create peace. We do every little thing in this life by our own choice. We can say that we were forced, by parents, the law or a captor, but we live and die by choice. This principle has never been more true. If you and I abide by the prior three principles, then this one follows logically. It will be our duty to honor people above any things that we might obtain from them. It is our duty to protect people from harm. Our duty to the Creator will compel us to live at peace with others. We will always consider whether or not to act, because our first primary responsibility is always to ask ourselves if it will help or hurt the people involved.
How do we honor others and moral absolutes and be happy?
