Reflect What You Want to See

When we look into a pool of water, we see a reflection of reality. If the water is disturbed, the reflection will be distorted and inaccurate. If the water is peaceful and calm, we may see a pretty good representation of the truth, but it is still a reflection. Even the moon doesn’t actually shine. It merely reflects the energy of the sun.

I have been studying the Bible and Christians for about twenty-five years. In so doing, I have received tremendous healing and deliverance from all sorts of fear, grief, shame and doubt. I live in the light of peace. There are plenty of troubling things that happen, plenty of difficulty, but I have the assurance of peace.

I get frustrated and I work hard to control my attitude and reign in my emotions on a daily basis, like everyone else. As I get to know God and the magnitude of His love for me, I can’t help but to become more peaceful with each passing year. I can still get pretty intense, especially if I have goals to meet. I can be bossy and give direction in clear and firm ways, but I always endeavor to consider the best for the people I am working with on whatever project it might be.

It is extremely important to wait on the Lord, to be still and know that He is God. We need to exercise patience, most especially with ourselves. Keep making progress, but don’t demand instantaneous transformation. We change by moving from one level to another in stages and process. God won’t ever make you change. He won’t insist you change. He loves you just the way that you are right now. He loves you so much though, that He doesn’t want you to stay in that state.

Christians are in the process of becoming a reflection of the Son. According to the Bible, The Creator God is three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We call their relationship the Trinity. Each of the persons of the Godhead has their own perspective, their own responses and their own way of doing things. They conference and work in perfect harmony on everything, they are one being. This is one of the harder concepts, but it is a key to understanding the supernatural healing that I received and that I hope you will also receive.

Christianity is simply believing what the Bible tells us is the truth. Christians, then, are to grow and learn to be like the Son, Jesus. As in the first paragraph, if we are disturbed, the reflection is distorted and we reflect a poor image of God. This is why people should never base their beliefs about God on the way Christians behave. Many Christians are worrying, agitated and disturbed, or they may be intentionally living on the dark side of Christianity; in ignorance of the peace and joy that they could possess.

The Son is the member of the trinity that became a man, a second Adam. The first Adam separated himself from God in the garden by not believing Him and disobeying His directive. We call that sin. Because of that sin and the fact that every person on earth has descended from him, we are born with sin in our very nature, kind of in our DNA. We can’t know God and we don’t have any ability to do things His way. Sin is the barrier, not just the consequence.

It is only by being born again that we can receive the new nature, one that can come into relationship with God. To be born again, one is born of the Spirit of God. It is not logical or tangible. It is a supernatural revelation, an acknowledgment by believing.

Christianity isn’t about behavior. It is about position.

Behavior is subjective. One person’s acceptable behavior is completely repugnant to another person. Conduct can be judged by any culture to be pure and right, or crass and rude. Even within a cultural community, there may be segments of the population that hold a differing opinion from the rest. To take this a step further; influences over time can change what is acceptable behavior.

Position is objective. If I am standing on the sand at the lake, others can agree that I am there. Even a blind man can hear me there or a deaf, mute, blind man can feel that I am there. If I am inside of a car or a building, in the same way, I am in or I am out. When I step into the water of the lake up to my neck, there is no mistake that I am in the water.

Because our position is a supernatural transfer out of darkness into His marvelous light, we often have no tangible reference point. Unlike whether we are inside or outside of the sunlight, our position is spiritual, part of the unseen dimension. This is precisely why we must accept the invitation to believe and then, act accordingly.

If we believe God, we learn what will please Him. Love your neighbor, give to the poor, be kind and tenderhearted, sing spiritual songs, speak the truth in love, think about things that are pure, praiseworthy and true, these are all helpful to us. They are helpful, because of the Law of Sowing and Reaping.

It is similar to reflection. If we endeavor to present ourselves with grace and dignity, we will see grace and dignity in the world around us. Peace and joy from us, will bring peace and joy back to us.

Memorizing passages about positive themes helps transfer our minds and our lives.

What are some ways you’re reflecting your world? How might you change the world around you, by your activity?
