Medicate, Mask or Master
I have Lyme disease. Sometimes I medicate, which may alleviate the symptoms at the root or it may just mask them. Other things are under my direct control. My diet and supplements affect pain levels and disability or ability, as the case might be.
In my work as a pro-life advocate, I am always looking for ways to make a difference within my current limitations. There are occasions when being incapacitated has left me with nothing but my thoughts and unable to deal with the slighted distractions. Even TV or reading is impossible sometimes.
Yesterday was such a day. As I lay there with my head feeling as though it would explode and medication not making the slighted perceivable impact, I thought about how national pro-life groups operate in the public sphere.
They educate the public. This is good. Abortion is down 12% nationwide. At least that is what we’ve heard. There are suspect numbers for chemical abortion that indicate the abortions are merely occurring earlier and that number of decreased surgical abortions is mute.
However; to be sure young people are coming out in droves as prolife. At least as far as abortion is concerned, there are many groups, most notably Students for Life.
They influence legislation. This is problematic because, too often they dilute the logic of their own argument by introducing exceptions to laws that would stop killing babies through abortion. Exceptions suggest that some babies are worth saving and some are not. It also suggests that some crisis pregnancy situations warrant the death of an innocent person. This ought not be so.
Legislative efforts have fallen far short to stop the brutal murder of the smallest and most vulnerable of society. Even to moments before birth, children are being killed in the most brutal and horrific ways imaginable.
They influence elections. This might seem like a good goal, but the national prolife groups often back candidates that have no sure logic in their own views. The candidates tout exceptions as a way to get some babies saved. There again, the logic is faulty and easily dismissed as an elitist dictate that can be manipulated and overcome in debate and the text of legislation.
When a candidate says they are prolife and their standard is so lax that no true prolife legislation can make it through the process to become a barrier to the children’s deaths. On the other end of life, the same thing is happening with assisted suicide and euthanasia.
They raise money. They raise lots of money. While the majority of US Americans are working stiffs, trying to make ends meet as we take care of our families, the truly prolife segment of our society is doubly impacted by economics. Many prolife families have children and grandchildren and elderly parents to take care of. They still squeeze out all they can to make the world a better place for their posterity to grow up in. They donate to prolife groups hoping to accomplish the stated goals of ending abortion and holding back the tide on other imposed death.
Sadly, a good deal of that money is spent on the faulty goals of elitist ideology in legislation and on candidates that keep the system of legalized murder alive and well funded in our country.
Is there a solution? You bet. Stop giving support of any kind to prolife groups that promote faulty logic and enable the pro-death elitists.
The idea that some people are worthy of protection and some are not is repugnant. It is an ungodly notion that suggests that people can decide who is allowed to live and who gets killed.
Only when we as a people recognize the certain inalienable right to life for all people and acknowledge that from the formation of a new human being until a natural demise every person has value, will we see a better world for our posterity.
The notion of personhood from conception to natural death is the only standard that defies elitists and their arbitrarily contrived criteria for who is or is not protected by law.
Personhood Alliance (PA)is the foremost national prolife organization with this rock solid standard. Other national prolife organizations similarly follow this standard. Some are affiliates of PA and some are not, but their education, legislative efforts and candidate endorsement criteria are the same.
I’m not discussing strategy here. I am merely pointing out the failed logic that has brought us 55+ Million dead by hacking their arms and legs off and crushing their skulls and the same elitist mentality that is ushering in euthanasia and assisted suicide.
What are you doing to stem the tide of legalized killing in our nation?
