Troubling Physicians’ Ethics
We are definitely living in the age spoken of in the Book of Daniel. The explosion of knowledge is upon us. We have access to know anything one could imagine. This is good and bad.
Obviously, the imagination of our Creator is a wonderful thing. He created us to be like Him, in His image, full of goodness and mercy, love, kindness and truth.
However; with the fall of man, as it is put in the Scriptures, people are not as connected to the qualities of God. Having been separated from God by our sinful nature, we tend to imagine things that are not anything like His goodness.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made though. In our time, we can survey physicians all over the world and the results are troubling for many. The value of human life is not actually what those who love God would hope among physicians. The results are not actually startling, given the trend toward commoditizing humans.
Technological advances allow transplanting of singular organs. Neonates and fetal transplant recipients are an unnerving trend. These little ones are not consenting. They are subjects of practice and experimentation. Their value as persons is in danger of being denied.
Pediatric euthanasia is another troubling trend. Children are not able to give consent. The promotion of pedophilia in America has direct implications here. If a child can consent to sex, then surely they can consent to giving up their lives. The idea of futile care is such a subjective theory. As in the survey, trends toward advocating death for those deemed unable to recover are on the rise.
Numbers are unreliable, but should give us pause. We have a responsibility to know where our doctors stand. We cannot trust the Hippocratic oath any more. We must not fear. Let us be aware and find out what our doctors think and determine whether or not they will care for us as we would have them to.
Be safe out there folks. Where do your doctors stand?
