Lyme Life ~ Camp
It’s Wilderness Camp Week!
For those of us who have been involved in Wilderness Camp, it is an exciting time; culminating years of preparation for some and months for others. Wilderness Camp is a teen-run, week-long, day-camp with adult helpers on site. The teens create their lessons, come up with games and activities, camp songs are passed down and new ones added. In the afternoons, there are many options for campers.
From archery and riflery to arts and drama, photography and dance to sports games and extended challenges, lego building to rocketry, thereĀ is enough variety to meet just about anyone’s preference.
We are so happy to be able to serve the community in this way.
- Wilderness Camp is a safe place in an unsafe world.
- Camp offers leadership opportunitiesĀ for teens.
- Camp provides a platform to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I serve primarily at Jr. Camp. We have about 80 campers from 4-7 years old. They do a 1/2 day. Then, the teens from Jr. Camp join the teens and the other 200+ campers at Wilderness Camp for the afternoons. It is a very high energy week, especially in the heat of July, but we look forward to it every year.
Of course, we are careful, warning people about ticks and Lyme disease potential and the signs to look for. Just as, poison ivy and care is taken to have a nurse on site at all times when camp is in session.
Camp is the highlight of my summer. I hope you are well enough to have something this special. We all need an anchor; something that stirs hope in us.
The mad happenings around the country can be terribly overwhelming. To be able to look ahead and see positive things happening is so important.
Take care my friends.
